How to Cook Bacon

Kiolbassa Dry Cured Bacon is made the way it was in the old days, before companies started pumping it full of water, phosphates and other chemicals. At Kiolbassa, we take ten days to dry cure our bacon, hand rubbing the spices and letting them naturally absorb into the bacon. Because of our slow-crafted® method, Kiolbassa Dry Cured Bacon does not shrink, shrivel or splatter like other bacons. So, you get more bacon and a bolder flavor in every slice. The result is a slow-crafted® bacon, without a mess, that will taste better than any bacon you’ve ever had before!

Even though most enjoy their Kiolbassa Bacon cooked in a skillet, there is more than one way to prepare it.  Enjoy!

  • Let’s fry bacon! Start by laying the bacon flat on the skillet – cast iron or regular skillet. Turn the burner on to medium.
  • Cook for 6-8 minutes then turn bacon and cook the other side for 6-8 minutes.
  • The bacon will continue to cook some after removing it from the pan, so cook it until it’s almost the way you like, then move it to a paper towel lined plate.
  • Let the Kiolbassa Dry Cured Bacon finish sizzling and cool for just a few minutes. Be patient – the wait is worth it!
  • If you are planning to cook more bacon, drain grease from the skillet. Add the remaining bacon to the already hot skillet.
  • Ever wondered the best temperature to cook bacon in the oven? Read our step-by-step directions below!
  • Preheat your oven to 400º F.
  • Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • Lay the strips of bacon on the baking sheet close to each other, but not touching.
  • Set a timer for 15 minutes. Remove the bacon from the oven if you prefer it chewy, or if you prefer crispy bacon, allow it to cook an additional 5-8 minutes.
  • Transfer to a paper towel lined plate as Kiolbassa Dry Cured Bacon will continue to crisp up after removing from the oven.
  • Going to a barbecue or entertaining outside? The grill is a perfect way to cook bacon!
  • Oil the grill with no-stick spray or by brushing a small amount of vegetable oil.
  • Prep the bacon by either ribboning it onto wooden skewers or placing the bacon directly onto the grill grate.
  • To avoid flare-ups, do not put the bacon directly over the flame or heat source. Lay the bacon across the grate bars on the cooler side of the grill. Close the lid of the grill.
  • Turn every 4-5 minutes, closing the lid of the grill in between each turn.
  • Cooking times will vary, but total cooking time should be no more than 15-20 minutes.
  • Transfer Kiolbassa Dry Cured bacon to a plate lined with paper towels. Grab a fresh beverage, and enjoy!
  • Line a microwave safe dish or plate with 2 or 3 paper towels.
  • Lay the bacon strips on the paper towels with the sides touching, but with no bacon overlap.
  • Cook bacon on high for 1 minute per strip of bacon. So, if you are cooking 5 pieces of bacon, then set the microwave for 5 minutes on high.
  • Bacon will be ready right out of the microwave. Transfer to a fresh paper towel lined plate and allow it to rest before you dig in!
  • If you prefer Kiolbassa Dry Cured Bacon crispy, heat for additional bursts of 30 seconds in the microwave.
